What is the 'approach' of BISSETT JIU-JITSU ?
BISSETT JIU-JITSU attempts to avoid confrontation if possible. If not, we will use 100% commitment, in order to stop the attack and prevent further attack, until force is no longer required.
What's the difference between JIU-JITSU and TAI-JITSU ?
While BISSETT JIU-JITSU is all about Self-Defense against street-type situations, Self-Defense in Canada is governed by the limitations of the Criminal Code. TAI-JITSU Is a Military-type application, with obvious employments in both defensive and offensive roles.

What is required for an for Affiliate Shodan Black-Belt (1st Degree)?
Years ago we developed the Shodan (1st Degree) Black-Belt Proficiency Test, that clearly lays out the range of attacks and situations required for any Shodan Grading. The attacks and situations are listed, but the defenses can be whatever responses your system, style or art involves. The only requirement is that the performance standard clearly demonstrates an effective response to each situation, and an obvious level of technical expertise that is to be expected of any 1st Degree Black-Belt.
How Can I Attend the Annual Black-Belt Clinic?
Our yearly Black Belt Clinics are open to all affiliated JJ Black-Belts and provides us with a great opportunity to train, discuss and answer the concerns that are specific to Black-Belts and are often not addressed in a Black-Belt's regular training or club activities. Black-Belt Clinics also contain opportunities for Pre-Grading Assessments and Personal Goal-Plans.
